Abiola Babalakin, M.D.

Dr. Babalakin is the Medical Director of Jydes Family Clinic. She is dually Board Certified in Child-Adolescent and General Psychiatry. She earned her medical degree from the University College Hospital in Ibadan, Nigeria. Subsequently, she completed residency in general psychiatry and fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Drexel University College of Medicine and Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Babalakin is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. Her expertise serves well in the management of a wide range of psychiatric illnesses including autistic spectrum disorders. She values a holistic approach in the evaluation and development of treatment plans, and in collaborating with members of the multidisciplinary team to provide care in the best interest of each patient. Her ability to help patients work through problems in psychotherapy and to prescribe medication when needed promote health and wellness in everyone she treats.

Deirdre Hall, APRN, FNP-C

Deirdre is a Nurse Practitioner who relocated to the Atlanta area in 2007. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Loyola University. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Dillard University and her Masters Degree in Nursing from Southern University. She has enjoyed over 20 years of working in the medical profession treating children, adolescents, and adults. Deirdre joined Jydes Family Clinic in 2014 and works between several of our current locations. She likes to create an environment of ease and relaxation where clients and their family members will feel comfortable and participate in their care. She has a passion for inspiring and providing treatment to clients so they may reach their full potential, as well as optimal health and well-being.

Tricia Strickland, APRN, PMHNP-BC

Tricia is a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who relocated to Atlanta in 2008. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing and her Master’s degree in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from Wilkes University. She has had the privilege of caring for adults, adolescents, and children in various clinical settings throughout her career, including psychiatric acute care. Tricia joined the Jydes team in 2016 and provides services in several of our locations. She wants her clients to feel safe, relaxed, and heard, in a calm and caring environment. She works collaboratively with the therapists when treatment involves both medication management and therapy. She believes in client-centered, compassionate care and the importance of her clients’ role and participation in achieving and maintaining optimal mental health.

Joy Mock, LPC – Therapist

Joy Mock is a Licensed Professional Counselor, (LPC), and was born and raised here in Georgia. She moved to Gwinnett County in 1985. She earned her Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree from Georgia Southwestern College and her Masters Degree (MA) in Counseling from Liberty University. She has experience working with many age groups and diagnoses including individual, family, and marriage therapy. Joy's theoretical orientation is based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Choice Theory, Structural Family Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Faith Based Counseling. Joy is licensed by the state of Georgia and is also a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC). She is married and has two children. Joy works between several of our current locations.

Jon Hester, LCSW - Therapist

Jon brings over 15 years of extensive experience working with adults, adolescents & children. Having completed his Master's degree in Social Work from Florida State University in 2004, he and his family relocated to Georgia in 2006. Jon is licensed in the State of Georgia as a Master Social Worker (LMSW). His approach to therapy is shaped by both the Systems and Person-in-Environment perspectives. Jon combines the theoretical concepts of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Strategic Family Therapy, Client Centered Therapy and Applied Behavior Analysis to help clients reach their goals. For children under the age of 10, Jon uses Play and Creative Art Therapy techniques. Jon is eager to walk along side clients of all ages, providing individual, couples, and family therapy. Jon is married and has two children. He works between several of our current locations.

Majonica Askew, LPC- Therapist

My greatest reward as a therapist is helping children and adults explore ways to make changes in their lives and look forward to the future. I believe that we all need someone to talk with who will really listen and accept us as we are, without judgment. I provide my clients with a warm, nonjudgmental environment—a safe place to explore the issues that may be preventing you from living the life you want. I have a Master’s degree in Counseling and am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I use a variety of approaches to help my clients, depending on individual needs. I am gifted at establishing rapport and building a strong therapeutic relationship. My experience includes helping clients overcome depression, anxiety, attention struggles, and mood disorders, among other challenges. Having previously worked as a family therapist in private practice and the Clinical Director in a substance abuse center, I believe that I am uniquely qualified to assist clients facing relationship and addiction problems. You deserve all the good that life has to offer and you don’t have to achieve it alone. I encourage you to take that first step. I’m here to help and look forward to hearing from you.

Letisha Erb, LCSW- Therapist

Letisha Erb is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who received her Bachelors Degree in Psychology from National-Louis University and her Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Chicago, Jane Addams School of Social Work. The focus of her training was children, adolescents, families, and young adults. Letisha has training and significant experience with childhood anxieties/fear, OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder), panic attacks/disorder, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, ADHD, boundaries, codependency, and family life issues such as communication and parenting. Letisha has a client-centered approach and uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and creative expressive therapies such as play and art. She focuses on a client’s strengths as they move toward their goals. Letisha is also comfortable providing a biblical context for clients who desire this integration into their treatment. She enjoys coming alongside her clients in their journey toward their best health. Letisha has over 15 years experience working with clients in various settings such as private practice, psychiatric hospitals, and a therapeutic day school. She joined Jydes Family Clinic in October 2014 after moving from Michigan. She works between several of our current locations.

Laurice Jordan, LPC - Therapist

Laurice Jordan is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia. She has a B.A. degree from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL and a Master's Degree in Community Psychology from Springfield College the school of Human Services. Laurice is the happily married mother of two adult children and one grandchild. She has over 15 years experience as an educator, sexual violence trainer, and clinical therapist interacting with children and adolescents ages starting at around 10 in Florida and Georgia. Laurice worked as a family specialist and prevention counselor in South Florida, and now lives in Northeast Atlanta where she works as an outpatient therapist for a private practice in Psychiatry. As a therapist, she is able to integrate her knowledge of communities and mental health issues to help families problem-solve, overcome personal issues, and work toward positive home and school experiences. Laurice also counsels individually with adults who are experiencing life transitions, mood disorders, grief and loss, psychological or spiritual problems, or who wish to improve their marriages, parenting, and life skills. The practice of professional counseling includes helping clients with: Wellness, Personal growth, Decision making, Stress management, Career development, School counseling, Gerontology, Addiction and substance abuse counseling, Prevention of mental health issues or self-care, Family counseling, Marital and relationship counseling, Diagnosis of mental health disorders, Treatment modalities for mental health disorders. Laurice prides herself on working with an open mind and an open heart.

Joanne Gonzalez, LPC - Therapist

I have been blessed with the opportunity to have been working with children since my teens. I love fostering and facilitating change, creativity, and the search of solutions. With a BA in Special Education, a Masters in Professional Counseling, and an EdS in Child and Adolescent Psychopathology, I hope to serve children, teens, and adults in making better choices, exploring needs, fostering strengths, and finding clarity towards insight and growth. I use many styles and techniques that emanate from my background in arts, music, languages, and the continued search for self-expression. My professional experience can help patients overcome anxiety, depression, trauma, history of abuse, attention difficulties, impulse control challenges, mood inconstancy, the family needs related to having a family member with special needs, as well as other drawbacks. It is my honor to serve others.

Catelyn Durham, LAPC - Therapist

I have a passion for helping others, and I strive to create a non-judgmental and safe environment for my clients. I believe in taking a holistic view and addressing concerns in all areas of a person's life to promote greater awareness and acceptance of the individual and of life's circumstances. I see all of my clients as individuals with unique experiences and skills that they can bring into the therapeutic relationship. As so, I take an eclectic approach to counseling and tailor the treatment to the client's personality and needs. My experience has been primarily with adolescents and adults suffering with symptoms of depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, OCD, grief, body image, interpersonal problems, and substance abuse. I am currently working in the Dacula and Buford office.

Zulaikha Akbarzada, LPC - Therapist

Zulaikha is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology and is a Nationally-Certified Counselor. She specializes in Trauma Resolution and Memory Reconsolidation Therapy, an evidenced-based therapy that is grounded in EMDR, RRT, hypnotherapy, and Brain-Spotting. This form of therapy can heal anxiety, depression, PTSD, and unresolved emotional turmoil, where patients may feel "stuck". This form of therapy is useful where other forms of counseling have not worked and for first-time counseling patients. Zulaikha provides a gentle and supportive atmosphere for her patients, thus allowing them to reconnect with themselves and gaining greater awareness. She will assist in finding unhealthy patterns and highlight strengths to help patients make their own connections to move forward in a happy, fulfilling life. Zulaikha has extensive studies in male psychology, thus providing both men and women insight into relationship with themselves and others. Zulaikha also works at Emory Healthcare and has worked in mental health at various levels of care for more than 14 years. She does not offer faith-based counseling; however, she invites you to explore your faith and spirituality if you choose.

Chris McDuffie, LPC - Therapist

Chris McDuffie is a licensed professional counselor in the state of Georgia and has worked in the mental health field for 14 years. He has a BA in Secondary Education and BS in Mathematics from Oglethorpe University and taught high school for about four years. He also ran collegiate cross-country for four years while in college. Chris then obtained his MA in Counseling from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2002 and then completed 18 hours of Doctoral Level Psychology courses at Georgia State University and is a certified anger management specialist. Chris has extensive experience in clinical assessments and counseling populations from children through adults as well as geriatric populations. He has also taught Psychology as an adjunct professor at Shorter University. As a therapist, Chris has the ability to utilize his knowledge and experience in community mental health to help families overcome personal issues and work towards achieving positive experiences in their lives. Chris also provides therapy for married couples, men with addictions, grief and loss, career and vocational issues, and spiritual issues. Chris describes his treatment approach as eclectic but by nature is person centered, nondirective when necessary, and utilizes cognitive behavioral as well as brief strategic therapy. Chris has a passion for helping his clients to feel empowered to grow personally and more successfully manage stress. Finally, Chris has been married 20 years and has one daughter. He enjoys volunteering at his church and is a private pilot with the Civil Air Patrol.

Felisha Jones, LPC - Therapist

Felisha A. Jones is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Georgia. She has a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree from Shorter College and a Master's Degree (MA) in Counseling from Liberty University, with several hours of continuing education. Felisha is dedicated to helping others improve their lives through education, insight, and change. She has over 6 years’ experience as a therapist interacting with a diverse group of individuals. She has worked with various age groups and diagnoses including individual, group and family therapy. With the client’s consent, she’s able to integrate theology and psychology to aid with problem-solving, overcoming personal issues, and working toward positive home and school experiences etc. Felisha’s theoretical orientation is based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Eclectic Therapy. She understands that each individual is unique and requires a unique treatment plan. Eclectic therapy offers a more flexible and multifaceted approach that allows the therapist to use the most effective methods available to address their client’s individual needs. Felisha is the happily married mother of two young children whom she enjoys spending time with. Beyond the therapy room, there are many things Felisha likes but most of all she enjoy relaxing at the spa.
